Zamfara community draws list of 85 members abducted by terrorists

Wanzamai community of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State has drawn the list of 85 members abducted by suspected terrorists on Friday.

Although the list did not indicate the age of the victims, sources said the victims include women and children.

Speaking to the BBC Hausa service on the attack, a parent who said her 15-year-old was abducted expressed concerns about the condition of the children in captivity.

“We are worried because we don’t know the condition of our children in captivity,” she said.

Another parent disclosed that every household in the community was affected by the unfortunate incident.

“If your child is not involved, definitely one of your relatives would be among the victims,” he said.

Meanwhile, attempts by our correspondent to get the reaction of the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command weren’t successful, as his known telephone number was switched off at the time of filing this report.

Also, the Zamfara Commissioner for Internal Security, Mamman Tsafe, didn’t pick up calls nor reply to SMS sent to his line.
