Rainfall destroys houses in Aba

A mid-day downpour Saturday in Aba took over people’s houses in Aba, Abia State.

Most affected were at 142 Port Harcourt Road, Ubani Street off 144 Port Harcourt Road, 146 Port Harcourt Road and other areas where the houses were completely submerged by flood after the rain.

According to an eye witness who does not want to be mentioned said, “all the buildings at Ubani Street, all buildings at Umuoji Street, and some buildings at Georges Street and other adjoining Streets off Port Harcourt road were affected.”

A lot of people have been rendered homeless as a result of the rains.

One of the residents affected by the rain, simply identified as Mrs Gloria, wept profusely over the predicament.

She told our correspondent that her family has no place to sleep or stay at the moment.

She, however, called for assistance from relevant authorities.
