Manchester United forward Antony Matheus dos Santos was reportedly involved in a scary New Year’s Eve incident when he crashed his BMW sports car on a motorway near his home.
According to reports, the 22-year-old destroyed his X6 vehicle in roadworks on the M56 near his home in Hale.
Anthony did not sustain any injuries in the accident but was left badly shaken, reports The Mirror.
The footballer passed a breathalyser test when police arrived at the scene, with his £100,000 car subsequently recovered.
“I feel relieved as I had a shock in the last few days, but I prefer not to comment on what happened. It was a personal matter, really hard, but I’m very grateful to God for putting this behind me now,” he said.
The Brazilian signed a five-year contract for a transfer from Ajax to Manchester United in August last year.
