Lagos extends registration for Basic Education Certificate Examination

The Lagos State Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for the registration of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A statement on Thursday by Orunsolu Adebayo, Director of Lagos State Examinations Board, announced the postponement.

The board informed Public Junior Secondary Schools, approved Private Junior Secondary and Special Schools that the deadline earlier fixed for April 14 has been extended to April 28.

Adebayo explained that the extension became necessary due to the hitches encountered by schools arising from network problems and current economic realities.

“The hitches also range from Central Bank cashless policy which made the processes cumbersome for most schools, and epileptic Network Services,” he noted.

The director added that the government did not wish to deny any school and its candidates the chance to participate in the examination.

The board encouraged all affected schools to use the opportunity “as excuses will not be entertained after the expiration of the new date”.
