Osinbajo and Abiodun also seized the opportunity to pay homage to the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.

In his words, Osinbajo maintained that Emeritus Professor Ogunlesi “lived a life that is worthy of emulation in every sense of the word.”

Aside from being the first Professor of Medicine in Nigeria, Osinbajo stated that Ogunlesi is also the first head of UCH, Ibadan, the first President of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and the founding director of the Ibarapa Community Health programme, which he said later became the model for primary health care interventions in many parts of Africa.FB IMG 1681490085407

At the funeral service, Osinbajo reminded the people of Ogunlesi’s work ethic, selfless service, transparency and dedication to public service.

While saying the life of Ogunlesi “stands as a challenge for us to live up to the high values necessary to build people, institutions, and our society, Osinbajo prayed that “may his legacy live forever.”

Also, Abiodun prayed that God should grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
