Supplementary poll: Late arrival of materials mars Sokoto election

There was anger and fury amongst voters in Sokoto as the late arrival of electoral materials characterised the supplementary national assembly elections in the state.

Speaking to newsmen at JSS polling unit 017 in the Shuni Area of the state, the member representing Dange/Shuni, Tureta, Bodinga federal constituency, Dr Balarabe Kakale said he was disappointed at the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Kakale noted that upon the assurance the electoral body gave Nigerians, the umpire has not shown commitment to conduct a free, fair and credible rerun.

He said the election should have commenced by 8:am, but election materials were delayed at polling units.

“You know billions of naira were voted for INEC for this election but look at what is happening, even their ad-hoc staff were not properly trained,” he stated.

He said they have registered their protest to INEC, adding that the trend is discouraging.

He implored Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to allow the will and wishes of the electorates to prevail.
