The Arewa Youth Assembly, AYA, has called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, to zone the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the North West.
The group noted that zoning the speakership to the North West is in line with the principles of equity, fairness, and justice, stressing that such a move will not only strengthen the party’s base in the region but also foster unity and inclusiveness for a better Nigeria.
AYA also urged APC to zone the position of the Senate President to the southern part of the country to enhance national cohesion and inclusion. Such an arrangement, AYA stressed, would ensure that all regions of the country are carried along in the affairs of the Senate and that the interests of all Nigerians are well represented.
The group, believing such moves will help to achieve a more united and prosperous Nigeria, urged APC to act in the best interest of the country regarding zoning the key positions in the National Assembly.
AYA further disclosed that it was rooting for Abbas Tajudeen, the current member representing Zaria Federal Constituency, as the best candidate for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly.
