Presidential Election: Atiku, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso handed Tinubu his victory – Fashola

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has disclosed how the three main political opponents gave away victory to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Fashola said Tinubu’s three main opponents gave him victory by splitting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after the 2019 presidential election.

Recall that the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi; Atiku Abubakar of PDP; and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, were members of the former ruling party before they decamped.

However, Fashola said their separation before the 2023 presidential election led to Tinubu’s victory.

“Politics is a game of numbers and numbers have arithmetic equations – additions and multiplications. APC was adding and multiplying. PDP was dividing and subtracting.

“So, the major contenders against us in this election – NNPP, PDP, LP, their candidates, were in the same party in 2019. They lost by almost four million votes.

“So, they handed away the presidential ticket by dividing their powers. Not only did they divide, they now subtracted with the G5 governors. So, it was bad mathematics,” Fashola told Channels Television.
