North-West deserves Senate president seat – Groups

A coalition of political interest groups in the North-West geo-political zone, Rescue North West APC Group, has said the next President of the Senate should come from the North-West.

According to the coalition, the region should be given the position because it contributed the most votes to help President-elect Bola Tinubu to win the 2023 presidential election.

The coalition, after meeting in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto states, which are the six states in the region, endorsed Senator Barau Jubrin for the position.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Co-ordinator, Rescue Group, Muktar Dahiru-Gore, made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

The statement read in part, “The North-West contributed the most votes to help our ever resilient and politically-savvy President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to win the 2023 presidential election.

“The North-West zone contributed about 30 per cent of the mass of votes that made both the President-elect and the APC win the election

“People partake in politics worldwide to take over the reins of government to use and make the available resources for the greatest good of the greatest number of people and not to meet and satisfy sectarian indulgences such as religion and ethnic considerations.

“We appeal, therefore, to both the National Working Committee and the party Chairman, HE Abdullahi Adamu, and, in fact, all other interests concerned, to zone the Senate presidency to the North-West and give it to Senator Barau Jubrin, who is the most experienced lawmaker from the zone.

“He has just been elected to the National Assembly as a Senator for the third time, having been voted in as a Representative once before.”
