Despite playing 1-1 in the first leg away from home, Victor Boniface and his Belgian club, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, couldn’t find the inspiration to progress as they were beaten 4-1 at home by Bayern Leverkusen in the second leg of their Europa League tie. The tie ended 5-2 on aggregate.

Boniface however is still the highest goal scorer in the competition with six goals and two assists.

In the Europa Conference League, Gift Orban was caged again as Gent were hammered 4-1 by West Ham United. The English side progressed 5-2 on aggregate ending Orban and Gent’s fairytale run which saw the Nigerian announce himself in style in the previous round.

Orban scored the fastest-ever hat-trick in the UEFA Europa Conference League as KAA Gent thrashed Istanbul Basaksehir 4-1 in the round of 16. He was on target in the 31st, 32nd and 34 minutes. The emerging star netted five goals in the competition, a goal behind leading scorer Luka Jovic.

Editor’s Note
In our post on February 19, 2023, in a story ‘Woman burns self to death over failure to offset N70,000 loan’, we reported that a middle-aged woman, simply known as Mama Dada, set herself ablaze over her inability to pay back a loan of N70,000 she reportedly took from a microfinance bank, LAPO. We have since discovered that the microfinance bank referred to in the story was not LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited. We apologise to the LAPO Group for the error in the identification of the name of the said microfinance bank where the deceased took the loan. The mix-up in the name of the MFB is not deliberate.
