NBS sets date to release new unemployment, employment figures in Nigeria

The National Bureau of Statistics, the federal government agency responsible for all statistical information in Nigeria, has announced the date to release the new unemployment and employment figures for the country.

It disclosed this recently in a ‘Nigeria Labour Force Framework Re-design 2023 report.

It noted that the report would be released in May 2023 and cover data collected from October 19, 2022, to January 22, 2023.

It added that “Status of the NLFS: Data collection for 2022/2023 commenced from October 19 2022.

“The report for the reference quarter is almost concluded and will be published before the end of May 2023.”

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in Nigeria stood at 33.3 per cent, under-employment is 22.8 per cent, 42.5 per cent.

Youth unemployment, and youth-underemployment stood at 21 per cent, according to NBS.
