National Census: Niger Gov Sani Bello directs LG chairmen to sensitize people to participate

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has directed the 25 Local Government Council Chairmen in the state to sensitize the people on the need to avail themselves for the forthcoming National Census.

The Governor made the call at a special iftar organized for council Chairmen, Principal officers and staff of the Government House, held at the official residence of the Governor in Minna.

Emphasizing the importance of the Census particularly to the State, he said, ” it forms part of the indices for making critical decisions on states of the federation”.

The Governor who commended all the Council Chairmen for supporting his administration thus far, acknowledged that although they are new in office and faced with a herculean task, he is confident that they will succeed.

He also applauded his Principal Officers and other staff of the Government House for their resilience in ensuring the smooth running of activities in the Government House.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Acting National Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, and Chairman of Borgu Council, Yarima Suleiman thanked the Governor for his firmness in ensuring that the LG Elections that brought them to power were held.

Also, the Federal Commissioner Niger, NPC, Mohammed Dattijo Usman in his remarks, urged everyone in the state to participate in the National Census exercise coming up next month for the benefit of the state.

Usman also commended the Governor for not hesitating to recommend him for the position of Federal Commissioner at the National Population Census when he had the opportunity
