Rio Ferdinand rates Man City’s chances of winning Champions League, EPL, FA Cup this season

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has admitted that Manchester City can succeed in winning the historic treble (Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup) this season and become only the second English club to ever do so behind the Red Devils.

Man City took a huge leap forward in their quest to win a third consecutive Premier League crown after beating Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side are favourites to win the Premier League as they have two games in hand on Arsenal.

The Citizens also have an FA Cup final to play against Manchester United at Wembley in the coming days and are in the Champions League semi-final stage, where they will face Real Madrid.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “I think you would be stupid if you were to write them off and say no.

“The fixtures they’ve got coming up, they could win every game, and proved that with the amount of points they’ve amassed over the last couple of seasons.

“The big one is Real Madrid, no matter the form Madrid go into that game with, we’ve seen the history they’ve had in the Champions League.

“They can pull a performance out of nowhere. They’ve world-class players all over the pitch and the experience to match this Manchester City team.

“That is the big one, then the derby, FA Cup final you never know what will happen there, they’ll be favourites. Can they do it? Yes, they can.”
