Insecurity: Your security meeting diversion from real issues – Osun APC to Governor Adeleke

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has described the security meeting convened by the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, as a smokescreen.

The Osun APC also alleged that the meeting was intended to deliberately divert the real causes of insecurity in the state.

The party’s acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, made this known via a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo on Sunday.

Lawal, who predicted that the Adeleke administration could achieve nothing meaningful and tangible in the area of security unless his efforts in this regard are domesticated, asked Governor Adeleke to stop assaulting the sensibilities of the people of the state and paying lip service to fighting insecurity in the state.

“Governor Adeleke should stop assaulting the sensibilities of the discerning members of the society by stopping his lip service to fight insecurity in and outside the state.

“Adeleke should know that any effort that his administration may be making in fighting insecurity would amount to nothing until he has the political will to probe and sanction the hired thugs who killed some of our members to enable the PDP record the fraudulent victory in the last three elections,” he said.

While claiming that the state has become a haven for notorious political hoodlums who have been making life difficult for residents, Lawal charged Governor Adeleke to condemn the alleged killing of APC members and supporters by suspected Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hoodlums which have occurred since his inauguration on November 27, 2022.

“Anything short of this is balderdash as the blood of those APC members and supporters killed by the PDP thugs in order to rig the elections would be on the neck of the governor and haunt him till eternity,” Lawal stated.

Media Talk Africa recalled that Governor Adeleke had held a state security meeting where he commended the proactive actions of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies operating in the state.

He also noted that strengthening intelligence sharing and firming up operational relationships among the state commands will stop criminals in their tracks before they launch cross-border raids.

The governor used the meeting to call for the strengthening of inter-state policing to stem cross-border criminal activities.

It was gathered that the Osun State Governor did not convey any security meeting since his inauguration in November 2022 until around March 2023, when the Osun APC called his attention to it.

This was occasioned by the increasing unrest and security challenges in the Osun East Senatorial District comprising the Ife and Ijesa zones prior to the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections and the State House of Assembly election.

Also, many concerned citizens and groups in the state called on both the state government, the Osun APC and PDP to rein in their members to curtail the level of violence that was unleashed on innocent residents of the state.

The Osun APC had alleged that its members and supporters in Osun East had become refugees and had left their residences for other parts of the state.
