Three die in Ogun multiple accidents

Three persons have lost their lives while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in multiple accidents on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, on Sunday, confirmed the incident.

Akinbiyi said that the accident occurred at 4:49 am on Sunday.

He said that the accident involved a red Mack truck T-7827 LA, a white Nissan pick-up GEN 256 XA and a yellow Tricycle marked JGB 724 WB.

He said that 10 people were involved in the accident which comprised nine males and one female.

Akinbiyi said that two males and one female got injured while three males died in the accident.

The TRACE spokesperson said, “According to eyewitness accounts, the Mack truck had a propeller problem and could not be towed.

”However, after managing to move it off the road, with caution tape and cones used to separate/barricade it from the road, the tricycle, due speed rammed into it from the rear in the wee hours of the night, with the driver losing his life on the spot because of the impact of the collision.

”While the Nissan Pick Up Van also rammed into it from the rear in the early hours of this morning killing also the driver and one of the motor boys,” he said.

He noted that the injured victims had been rescued to a state hospital in Ifo for treatment and the presumed dead victims had already been deposited at the same hospital morgue.

He, however, called on drivers to avoid night travel and excessive speed.
