Gani Adams marks 53rd birthday, gives students scholarships

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has marked his 53rd birthday anniversary by awarding scholarships to four students picked from the South-West geopolitical zone.

In a statement made available to The on Monday, Adams restated his commitment to raising the standard of education in Nigeria in his “own little way.”

The four beneficiaries of the scholarships are Akinsanya Adedoyin (Lagos State University); Samad AbdulHamid (Kwara State University); Khadijat Oladipupo (University of Ibadan); and Adegbite Victoria (Olabisi Onabanjo University).

During the presentation of the scholarship, Adams said, “We started the initiative under the Aareonakakanfo Scholarship Award and the intention is to give the little I have in form of donations to the educational development of the students that are brilliant in their respective discipline across the South-West and beyond.

“It is my own way of giving back to the society.”

While noting that the progress of the beneficiaries would be monitored, Adams stated that the education sector needed “urgent intervention.”

He added that the scholarships given over the years had helped secure better futures for beneficiaries.
