UNIUYO new Registrar resumes duty

The new Registrar of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Blossom Okorie, has assumed duty as the eighth substantive Registrar of the institution.

Mrs Ebere Okorie, who until her new appointment was the acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the institution, had served as the Registrar in acting capacity.

The Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Bernadette Nwachukwu, announced the appointment of Okorie in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Monday.

A statement signed by the acting Registrar and Secretary to the Senate, Mr Linus Okoko in Uyo, said the new registrar is an “experienced administrator who has served as either secretary, member and chairperson in several committees and panels of the university.”

The statement added, “The 9th Governing Council of the University of Uyo led by its Chairman, Bernadette Nwachukwu, has announced the appointment of the 8th substantive Registrar, Mrs. Blossom Ebere Okorie, who before her appointment was the acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the University.

“This astute administrator with a track record of commitment and unbroken loyalty to the University of Uyo has climbed the ladder of the administrative cadre and garnered experience as reflected in all the sensitive positions she was privileged to hold in the university.

“Okorie had served as Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Pharmacy; Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Agriculture; Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Arts; Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Academic Staff Establishment, Directorate of Human Resources; Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences, and the Deputy Registrar and Head of Unit, Directorate of Information and Public Relations.”

Okorie is a member of various professional bodies.
