Rivers United goalie, Sochima targets double after Confederation Cup exit

Rivers United goalkeeper, Victor Sochima says the team has now shifted their attention to the defence of their Nigeria Premier Football League title as well as winning a first Federation Cup title.

Stanley Eguma’s side was eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup last weekend following a 2-0 aggregate defeat to the Young Africans of Tanzania.

The Pride of Rivers still have so much to play for this season as they have the league and the Federation Cup title to fight for.

Sochima, who earned his first invitation to the Super Eagles in March for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers insisted they will keep fighting to finish the season on a good note.

“It wasn’t an easy place to go, we went there we fought and we came back with a clean sheet. We got a Federation Cup against Enyimba on Thursday against Enyimba and is not an easy game to play,” the shot-stopper stated.

“It’s a game that can go either way. We still have our league to defend and also FA Cup to play, so we are prepared for those games.”
