Governor Obaseki dissolves state executive council

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect.

The governor made the declaration during the weekly Executive Council meeting in a statement by the Special Adviser, Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie.

Expressing his appreciation to the outgoing members of the council for their service to the government and people of the state, Obaseki noted that the dissolution of the council takes immediate effect.

This is coming hours after the Edo State Local Government Election scheduled to hold on the 6th of May, 2023, was postponed to Saturday, 2nd of September.

Sunday Osayande, the Administrative Secretary of the State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, in a statement on Tuesday, announced the postponement.

Osayande said: “This is to inform the general public that the Local Government Council Elections earlier fixed for Saturday 6th of May 2023 will be held on Saturday 2nd of September, 2023.”
