Sokoto governor-elect sets up committee to probe Tambuwal

The Sokoto State Governor-elect, Ahmed Aliyu, has set up a Finance and Debt Verification Committee to probe the outgoing governor, Aminu Tambuwal’s administration.

The committee, headed by the Deputy Governor-elect, Mohammed Idris Gobir, is set up to identify all the loans secured by the Tambuwal administration since its inception and ascertain if the money borrowed was utilised for the purpose they were meant for.

The 20-member committee was among the subcommittees inaugurated on Wednesday by the APC Transition Committee chairman, Ambassador Abubakar Sani, Makaman Sokoto.

According to Daily Trust, some lawmakers of the state have alleged that the Tambuwal administration had secured N86 billion in loans for the state.

The incoming governor was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which is the main opposition party to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
