Anambra fire service boss reiterates commitment to safety

Dr Martin Agbili, Anambra State Fire Service chief, said the service was ready and committed to sustaining its efforts in preventing and controlling fire outbreaks.

He said the service would increase fire safety procedures for the people.

Agbili said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Awka.

He said that Anambra State Fire Service would stop at nothing to protect the lives and hard-earned properties of the state residents.

Agbili said the service had recorded huge results in its service and was very proud to celebrate World International Firefighters Day (IFFD).

“I was happy and humbled with great humility to celebrate the occasion with the theme “ Act Together To Build A Positive Fire Safety Culture”.

“I was happy because the service has been equipped with modern fire fighting tools and personnel, ready to educate the public on fire safety tips and also fight fire outbreaks once it occurs,” he said.

The fire chief promised to live up to the general public’s expectation of providing quality services when it beckoned and appealed for public support to achieve its goal of increased productivity and efficient service delivery.

He reminded the public about the need to see the fire service as a channel through which a fire safety-friendly environment could be built because the fighters were ever ready to discharge their duties at all times.

Agbili said the service was willing to work with the public in fire safety and management and sounded the importance of switching off electrical appliances once not in use.

He said that the unwavering efforts and support of the Anambra Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, to Anambra State Fire Service and the welfare of its workers, would surely be reciprocated through efficient and speedy service delivery of its service to the people, NAN reports.
