Olumba-Olumba Obu, Founder and Head of Administration of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, has criticised same-sex marriage.
He stated that the proponents acting under the guise of freedom of choice are working against God’s command.
Olumba-Olumba made the remark on Saturday in Calabar at a session with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Cross River.
Commending individuals, groups and institutions who advance human freedoms, he said the advocacy must not be overstretched.
The cleric noted that some aspects of freedoms, especially the choice to marry any gender, runs contrary to divine laws of God.
“Most of the freedoms proclaimed today are deeply rooted in falsehood and there is no truth in them,” Olumba-Olumba said.
The religious leader added that same sex marriage must be checked to avert further perversion of communities and countries.
He commended journalists in Nigeria for serving as the conscience of society and charged them to always protect public interest.
“Such commendable works are pleasing to God and attract divine rewards in due course. You must rise in defence of what is true and just.”
The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star leader said the world needs more journalists of conscience to speak truth to power.
