Former Barcelona and Real Madrid star, Luis Figo, has picked Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema to win this year’s Ballon d’Or ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi.
Figo believes Haaland is having a great season at Manchester City, while Benzema can still win the Ballon d’Or again.
Recall that Benzema won the Ballon d’Or last year after beating the likes of Sadio Mane and Kevin de Bruyne.
Speaking about who can win this year’s Ballon d’Or on the sidelines of the Laureus Sports Awards, Figo said (via Mundo Deportivo): “Maybe Haaland because he is having a great season, but Benzema can still win it.
“I do not choose Messi because he is not in the Champions League and for me, that is decisive.”
