Nigeria invests heavily in youths – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that Nigeria has been investing heavily in its young population.

Buhari said youths have proven they can drive the change process and contribute positively to the socio-economic growth of their communities.

The President made the remarks while declaring open the Commonwealth Youth and Students Summit in Abuja.

Buhari said his administration had performed well in youth development, ensuring strong platforms through which youths can hone their leadership skills.

Represented by Chief of Staff Ibrahim Gambari, he pledged Nigeria would continuously create an enabling environment for young people to reach their potential.

Buhari expressed optimism that the summit will reach actionable policy decisions that will further enhance the development and productivity of the youth.

The President observed the young are leading the way in ICT, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, E-Commerce and the likes.

“Nigeria has invested heavily in youth development, created platforms such as the Youth Parliament, National Youth Council of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, Nigeria Youth Congress, amongst others.”

The government remains committed to the actualization of Commonwealth values and believes in the power of the youth to make a difference, he added.
