The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that punitive action will be taken against some of its members who scuttled the emergence of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, during the recent general elections. Speaking during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Awka on Friday, the state Chairman of the APC, Basil Ejidike, revealed that the saboteurs lacked the commitment and sincerity expected of good party members. He added that those found culpable would not go unpunished.

Ejidike also disclosed that the party would reward members who worked hard during the last elections. He stated that the party frowned at the behaviour of several party executives, as well as agents, who deserted their posts at critical points in the elections. Ejidike cautioned that such behaviour would no longer be tolerated.

The APC state chairman noted that many of the party’s stakeholders and members lacked the necessary commitment and sincerity that characterised good party men and women. This, he said, had adversely affected the party in Anambra. Ejidike expressed concern that some of the party’s leaders were culpable in this regard, and had entrenched party disloyalty and indiscipline in its chapter.

In view of this, the chairman stated that the party would set up a Standing Disciplinary Committee in accordance with Article 21.3 of the APC constitution. He said that the committee would enforce the punishment of members who perpetuated anti-party activities against the party in the state. Ejidike further warned members that the APC was a party with great ideology, objectives, policies, and programmes, which must be respected by all, especially leaders and members.

The APC stakeholders’ meeting also commended the efforts of members who stood with the party and worked tirelessly, despite daunting challenges, to achieve minimal successes at the last elections. The party pledged to reward and carry such members along in future. The APC expressed its admiration for the zeal and determination of its candidates who vied for various positions during the elections.

In conclusion, the Anambra APC vowed to take stringent measures to safeguard the party from going extinct. The party called on its members to eschew all anti-party activities and work towards the uplifting of the party in the state.
