The organising committee for the ‘Abia State Re-dedication and Dr Alex Otti’s Thanksgiving Service’ has announced a seven-day prayer and fasting programme in the state. The programme is one of the activities scheduled for the inauguration of Dr Alex Otti as the state’s 10th governor on May 29. The committee’s Chairman and Secretary, Uzor Nwachukwu and Bertrand Okeomah, respectively stated in a press release that the spiritual cleansing was set to begin on Sunday, May 21, and end on Friday, May 26. The event will round off with a ‘Re-dedication Retreat’ at Aba’s Ngwa High School on May 27.
The programme is aimed at ushering in a new wave of spirituality in the state, and it already has the backing of the Christian Association of Nigeria’s state chapter. A post-inauguration state thanksgiving service will also be held at the Umuahia Township Stadium by noon prompt on Sunday, June 4, according to the committee’s statement.
CAN’s state chapter has called on all its member churches in the area to observe the prayer and fasting sessions in a directive issued by the state Chairman, His Eminence, Dr Emmanuel Agomoh. The body has issued a statement urging Christians to join hands for this all-important assignment to fulfil their collective dream of a new Abia.
