Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has called on Nigerians to rally behind and create an enabling environment for the incoming administration to succeed. The statement was made during a private visit to Governor Atiku Bagudu and the Emir of Gwandu, Muhammadu Bashar in Birnin Kebbi. Gambari praised the Governor and Emir for their support and prayers before emphasizing the need to build support for the incoming administration which would undoubtedly build on President Buhari’s positive record.
He also highlighted the significance of free and fair elections, expressing his gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a transparent election. Gambari noted Buhari’s legacy as one that would be remembered for his fight against corruption and the agricultural revolution which has greatly impacted the country. He commended the diversification of the economy and the administration’s efforts to ensure that Nigerians are no longer just importing food but also consuming what they produce.
More states across Nigeria have diversified their economies, and several stand to gain economically through producing an abundant supply of crops, with Kebbi state ranking highest. Gambari commended Buhari for his commitment to constructing many kilometers of roads whilst fighting corruption, and most prominently, for supervising a free and fair election. Gambari also praised Buhari for congratulating the winners of the election, even in states where the ruling party did not win.
