Former NHRC Chairman, Odinkalu Criticizes Court Order Restraining NYSC from Making Disclaimer on Peter Mbah’s Certificate

Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, former Chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission, has expressed his displeasure at the recent court order that restrained the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from publishing a disclaimer on the certificate of Enugu State Governor-elect, Mr Peter Mbah.

The ex parte ruling was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo which prohibited the NYSC from continuing to issue a disclaimer that shows Mbah’s certificate was not issued by the corps. The NYSC had earlier issued a letter in February that the governor-elect’s NYSC certificate was not issued by the organization.

Despite this recent ruling, Odinkalu has criticized the court’s decision via his Twitter account. He questioned how a judge with a clear conscience could make such an order.

Mbah contested and won the March 18 gubernatorial election in Enugu State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
