Fountain University: Reaching Out to Displaced Nigerian Students in Sudan Crisis

In the midst of the ongoing crisis in Sudan, where many Nigerian students have been displaced, Fountain University in Osogbo, Osun State has offered admission to these affected students to continue their education in Nigeria. The university management expressed its sympathy and concern for the families of the students involved and urged them to take advantage of the spaces allocated to them in existing programs at the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Prof. Olayinka Karim, has extended the deepest sympathy and support of the university to the state governors and families affected by the recent evacuation of Nigerian students from Sudan due to the unfortunate outbreak of war in the country.

The situation in Sudan has left many Nigerian students stranded, without access to education, and unsure how to move forward. Realising the pressing need for these young individuals to continue their education, Fountain University has stepped forward to offer support. In a statement issued by the institution’s spokesperson, Taoheed Alimi, it was made clear that Fountain University recognises the challenges and emotional hardship faced by the affected students and their families, and is taking responsibility by offering a welcoming home and high-quality education to empower returned students to achieve both their academic and personal goals.

Fountain University recognises the urgent need for resettlement and educational continuity and has allocated a significant number of spaces in its existing programmes for the evacuated students. The university believes that creating opportunities for the students in the face of adversity would contribute to the development of future Nigerian leaders who would positively impact the nation.

The institution’s statement also called on state governors from the affected states to coordinate with the management of Fountain University to explore the best possible options for the evacuated students. The University management assures the affected students that its dedicated team stands ready to extend all possible assistance in the enrollment and transition process to ensure a seamless continuation of their academic pursuits.

In a time of such troubling circumstances, Fountain University’s compassionate response to the needs of these displaced Nigerian students is a testament to the positive impact the institution will have on Nigerian society and Nigerian youth.
