Seun Kuti: Lawyer Concerned over Client’s Welfare Amidst Starvation and Denial of Wife’s Access

Seun Kuti, a popular Nigerian music star, has been experiencing a lack of food in detention at the police station, according to his lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika. Furthermore, Kuti’s wife was refused access to him, with no other arrangement being made to feed him. The senior advocate of Nigeria is voicing his concerns about Kuti’s welfare during the investigative process.

Olumide-Fusika criticized the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for his investigation into the alleged assault of a policeman by Kuti. Hundeyin shared his investigative findings in the media, suggesting that Kuti slapped the officer after crashing into his car and injuring him. The musician then proceeded to apologize and give the officer ₦12,000 for vehicle repairs.

However, Kuti’s lawyer argues that Hundeyin should have sent the file with his report to be legally evaluated for possible prosecution instead of making his investigative report public. Kuti plans to defend himself against allegations made by Hundeyin’s investigative findings at an appropriate time and place.

In the meantime, Kuti’s welfare in detention remains a concern for his lawyer. The musician was arrested and handcuffed following his visit to the state police command, indicating that he is being held for questioning.

The Nigerian public should be informed of any possible updates concerning Seun Kuti’s welfare and the progress of the investigation conducted by the police.
