Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has debunked the media report quoting the governors of six North-Central geopolitical zones, including Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa states, and the Federal Capital Territory, as rejecting the zoning formula for parliamentary positions adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) party’s leadership. The newspaper report had published that the APC governors from North-Central refused to accept the zoning formula for the 10th National Assembly.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, AbdulRazaq mentioned that the North-Central governors have not made any public statement on the zoning formula provided by the party’s leadership. According to the statement, the party leaders from the region cannot take a confrontational approach against the party’s decision but are holding strategic meetings with different stakeholders.

AbdulRazaq said that the governors are exploring their channels of communication and would not make any statement or take any action that would undermine the party’s leadership or raise tension in the polity. He described the media report as a “stretch of our approach” and “not factual.”

The Kwara State Governor reiterated that the North-Central governors are party people, and they are committed to securing a better deal for their region while respecting the party’s position.

In conclusion, the North-Central governors are yet to make any official statement concerning the zoning formula for parliamentary positions by the APC leadership.
