Akpom’s Sensational Season Earns Him Fans POTY Nomination

Chuba Akpom, the Middlesbrough forward, has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Fans Player of the Year award following an outstanding season.

The Nigerian-born striker has already won the PFA Championship Player of the Year and top scorer awards, as well as being named Middlesbrough’s player of the year.

The 27-year-old has been in sensational form for Michael Carrick’s side this season, scoring 28 goals and providing two assists in 38 appearances, resulting in Boro qualifying for the Championship playoffs.

The other players on the shortlist for the award include Nathan Tella, Amad Diallo, Viktor Gyokeres, Carlton Morris, and Iliman N’Diaye.

The winner of the award will be announced after votes from members of the players, trade union, fans, and the Professional Football Association have been collated.
