PDP Establishing Committee to Review Cases of Indiscipline and Anti-party Activities by Members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has announced plans to establish a committee that would scrutinize all cases of indiscipline and anti-party activities perpetrated by certain chieftains during the 2023 general elections. The NWC made this decision known after its 571st meeting held on Tuesday.

A press statement issued on Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, revealed that the purpose of this resolution falls in line with the PDP national leadership’s ongoing efforts to instill discipline and promote comprehensive reconciliation in the party.

According to the statement released, “This resolution of the NWC is pursuant to its powers under Section 29 (2) (a) and (b) and Section 31 (2) (c), (d) and (i) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017). Accordingly, the NWC hereby directs that no Organ of the Party at any level shall henceforth commence any disciplinary action against any member of the party without due consideration and regard to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).”

The recent decision by the PDP NWC appears to have been triggered by allegations of anti-party activities leveled against some prominent chieftains of the party like Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State and his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, among others during the 2019 presidential election held on February 25th.
