Can Awoniyi make history against Arsenal in the EPL?

The Premier League clash between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal at the City Ground on Saturday (today) offers Taiwo Awoniyi an opportunity to make club history.

The forward has been in fine form lately, scoring four goals in his last two games for the Tricky Trees. With another goal in this tie, Awoniyi can join the elite class of Nottingham Forest players who have scored in three consecutive league games.

Dougie Freedman and Danilo are the only players to have achieved this feat. Freedman did it in the 1998/99 season while Danilo equalled the record this season. Awoniyi aims to take his place alongside them.

After missing action for around two months due to a groin injury, Awoniyi recently returned to action for Nottingham Forest. He has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 25 league appearances for Steve Cooper’s side this season.

Historical records aside, the game against Arsenal promises to be a tough one for Nottingham Forest, as they come up against a team currently sitting fifth on the Premier League table.

If Awoniyi can find the back of the net and help Nottingham Forest secure a win, however, it will be a massive boost for both the player and his team as they fight to retain their Premier League status.
