President Buhari Mourns the Death of Dr. Benson Morah, Former UNFPA Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sympathy to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and all the staff of the multinational institution and agencies following the recent demise of Dr. Benson Morah, a revered demographer, administrator, and development expert.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari commiserated with the family, acquaintances, and professional colleagues of the renowned population expert. He recounted Dr. Morah’s vast knowledge and skills which he freely shared in Nigeria, Africa, and other continents, heading many missions of the UN and leading the strategy planning and implementation.

Buhari praised Dr. Morah for his consistent service to nations with distinction, stating unequivocally that the demographer stayed the course of human development.

Dr. Morah, a former Director of the UNFPA, commenced his remarkable work in Nigeria and has been selflessly devoted to promoting human development within the nation and beyond for many years.

The President prayed that the soul of the departed will find perpetual rest in the bosom of Almighty God and also extend his condolences to the bereaved family.

The renowned demographer, who was originally from Anambra State, passed away on March 31 at the ripe age of 78.
