Kwara Governor Mourns as Elerin of Erin Ile Joins his Ancestors

Kwara State has lost a great leader as Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, the Elerin of Erin Ile, has passed on at the age of 81. The news of the first class traditional ruler’s death was a shock to the people of Erin Ile who have been hit with grief since the announcement.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Governor has commiserated with the family of the monarch and the people of Erin Ile. In a statement released through his chief press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Saturday, Abdulrazaq disclosed that the entire State is mourning as the death of the Elerin of Erin Ile marks the end of an era.

The late Oba Ajibola was a statesman and a fine leader. His reign recorded many developmental strides that earned him recognition beyond the boundaries of his community. The Governor acknowledged this fact in his statement as he prayed for Allah to grant the monarch eternal rest and provide comfort to his family, and the people of the community.

Also, Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also expressed his condolences. The Emir of Ilorin, through his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, described the death of the monarch as a monumental loss to Kwarans and humanity in general. He further noted that history will continue to honour the monarch, even in death.

According to the Emir, Oba Ajibola’s 41-year reign was marked by commitment, dedication, and fear of God. He led his people with admirable humility and kindness, which earned him the love and respect of his subjects. The traditional ruler’s achievements were commendable and worthy of emulation.

The entire Kwara State Council of Chiefs expressed heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased, the Elerin-In-Council, the people of Erin-Ile kingdom, members of the Oyun Traditional Rulers Council, government, and people of Kwara State. The Emir, in his condolence message, urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late Oba Ajibola lived a fulfilled life and made a significant impact on his community.

They prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late monarch, to accept his good deeds and to grant him eternal rest in al-janatul firdaos.
