Group Advises Osun State Governor Adeleke not to Undermine Other Arms of Government

The Osun Masterminds (TOM) group has cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke against taking any actions that could undermine the integrity of any other arm of government. The group also revealed that there were reports of Governor Adelekeโ€™s intention to impose a particular person as the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, which would contravene the established rules of the House. TOM condemned the planned move, and advised the governor to avoid any interference that impairs the independence and principles of the House.

During a press conference, the Executive Director of TOM, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, listed various issues that the Adeleke administration must tackle. These included the non-functionality of boreholes and unconfirmed reports suggesting irregularities in government procurement activities since the administration commenced.

The group also advised the Osun State Government to steer clear of the temptation of embarking on white elephant projects without carrying out extensive engagements beforehand. Reacting to the allegations, the state government refuted claims that its procurement processes were anything but transparent and that the boreholes commissioned across the state will soon be made operational.

The government further stated that its project choices are based on principles of grassroots development, local infrastructure agenda, and the urgency of local-state connectivity. According to the government, these principles were implemented by a team of professionals currently delivering on roads, bridges, boreholes, health care, and other aspects of development.
