ElDee the Don, a veteran Nigerian singer and rapper, has voiced his opinion against septuagenarians running for presidential positions in the country.

In an interview with media personality JOI, ElDee stated that it is a sign of weakness for someone in their 70s to pursue an ambition, emphasizing that such a person should instead be grooming their mentees to pursue such ambitions.

According to the ex-member of the disbanded Trybemen, it is a failure to have people in their 70s pursuing presidential positions in Nigeria when, in fact, they ought to have groomed successors with fresh ideas.

ElDee said: “There is no reason why people who are in their 70s are trying to be President in Nigeria. To me, it is a failure because it means you haven’t groomed anybody this whole time wey fit come in, come bring in new ideas. You believe sat na you go still do am. Na still this you go do everything. My mentality is, let new people in.”
