Seun Kuti’s Trial Adjourned as Court Fails to Sit

The trial of Seun Kuti, the popular Afrobeat singer at the Lagos State Magistrates Court in Yaba could not hold as scheduled on Tuesday, May 23rd and was adjourned till Wednesday. The absence of Justice Adeola Olatubosun, who gave no official reason for her absence, caused the adjournment of the trial.

It was gathered that Kuti had allegedly assaulted a police officer on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on May 13th, which led to him being charged to court. Some lawyers were said to have followed the police to Panti to secure their clients’ release as the four additional days of remand obtained expired that same day.

It would be recalled that Seun Kuti is the son of the legendary Afrobeat musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. He has established his name in the industry with his unique music style and has numerous awards and nominations to his credit.
