In a bid to ease traffic congestion and facilitate seamless vehicular movements in Katsina State, Governor Aminu Masari has commissioned the state’s first-ever flyover. Located at the Central Roundabout in GRA, Katsina, the flyover reportedly cost the state government N6.4 billion.
During the commissioning ceremony, the governor revealed that the project had been initially awarded in 2022 at a cost of N4.3 billion. However, the amount was reviewed upwards to cater for additional work and compensation for residents whose structures were affected by its construction.
Masari disclosed that his government had embarked on several infrastructural development projects in Katsina State, including the construction of rural feeder roads to facilitate the movement of farm produce to other parts of the state.
He noted that these projects, including two underpass bridges earlier commissioned in January, had significantly improved the living conditions of the people of Katsina State. Masari further urged motorists and road users to effectively utilise the new flyover and other completed projects.
The commissioning of the flyover is part of Masari’s administration’s commitment to enhance the state’s infrastructure. Masari is set to hold a valedictory executive council meeting with members of his cabinet on Wednesday afternoon, according to the timetable of his engagements as he rounds up his tenure as the governor of Katsina State.
