Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, visited Nigerian President-elect, Bola Tinubu, in Abuja on Tuesday, ahead of Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29. Blair expressed his willingness to support the incoming administration, stating that the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change would collaborate with Tinubu’s administration in prioritising its goals and delivery. Blair further explained his meeting with Tinubu was due to the institute’s Nigerian project, and that the meeting was set up to gain an understanding of the administration’s priorities. During his meeting, Blair applauded Tinubu’s campaign emphasis on security, economy, agriculture, and power. He was optimistic that the Tinubu administration could get the support it needs to fuel economic development in Nigeria through investors who have shown an appetite to invest in the country. In response, Tinubu expressed gratitude to Blair for his visit and his willingness to partner with his incoming administration.
