President Muhammadu Buhari has successfully sworn in seven Federal Commissioners of the Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). The event occurred during the last meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which was presided over by the President.
The ceremony saw Senator Ayogu Eze from Enugu State, Peter Opara from Imo State, Hawa Aliyu from Jigawa State, and Rakiya Haruna from Kebbi State as some of those who took the oath of office. Also among the newly appointed RMAFC commissioners are Ismaila Agaka from Kwara State, Kolawole Abimbola from Oyo State, and Ayuba Ngako, representing the Federal Capital Territory.
The swearing-in was part of the activities at the FEC meeting, where Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presented the report on the Health Sector Reform Committee to the President. Chaired by the Vice President, the committee’s objective centered on developing a roadmap that will facilitate achieving Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria. One of the recommendations was improving the health sector’s funding, which currently stands below 10 percent.
The reform committee’s report is a comprehensive long-term plan that successive administrations will implement to develop the country’s health sector. The Vice-President, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, also attended the FEC meeting.
Other notable attendees include the Ministers of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; Justice, Abubalkar Malami; Power, Abubakar Aliyu; Women Affairs, Pauline Talllen; Aviation, Hadi Sirika; and Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, among others.
The President advised all newly appointed RMAFC commissioners to work harmoniously during their tenure and justify the confidence he had in them by contributing their quota towards improving revenue generation towards consolidating the achievements of the current administration.
