SSS foils plans to disrupt May 29 inauguration

The State Security Service (SSS) has revealed their discovery of plans by subversive groups to disrupt the May 29 inauguration and other programmes in specific regions of the country. Dr Peter Afunanya, who is the SSS Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja. He stated that these elements are targeting to undermine the peacekeeping efforts of security agencies and create panic and fear amongst the public.

Afunanya used the statement to call on citizens, civil society organisations, and the media to comply strictly with the security and civil protocols during the events. He also advised against false news, fake narrations, and sensationalism, which can inflame tensions before and after the occasion.

He cautioned that any undesired action would destroy the national unity and cohesion, while warning unauthorised and non-accredited persons to stay away from restricted areas and certain designated venues during the inauguration.

The SSS spokesperson called on the public to remain calm, and he reassured them of cooperation with sister agencies to ensure a flawless nationwide inauguration exercise.

In conclusion, Nigerians are advised to remain alert, vigilant and law-abiding as they look forward to May 29 inauguration activities.
