Bauchi State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the first batch of pilgrims from the state will be airlifted to Saudi Arabia on Sunday, 28th May 2023, for the 2023 Hajj. This announcement came as the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims for the same event commences from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday.
At the distribution of 8kg bags and uniforms to the intending pilgrims held at the Board’s headquarters, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris represented by the Director of Operations, Sabiu Barau Ningi, praised Governor Bala Mohammed for subsidizing the cost of the uniforms for the state’s pilgrims this year. He also advised the pilgrims to sew their uniforms promptly as they would be airlifted to the Holy Land starting on Sunday.
Furthermore, the Executive Secretary used the occasion to inform the pilgrims that vaccination against contagious diseases is ongoing across the state and urged those that are yet to be vaccinated to do so immediately.
In another development, the Bauchi State government, led by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has promised to ensure smooth operations throughout the Hajj exercise. Kashim made this promise while leading a high-powered team on an on-the-spot assessment of the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi. The inspection was done to review facilities and ascertain their readiness for the pilgrims’ airlifts.
Among the high-powered team was the Executive Secretary of the State Pilgrims Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris. Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi is one of the designated departure points for this year’s Hajj operations.
