The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for completing three power plants, namely the Kashimbilla and Dadin Kowa Hydropower Plants, as well as the Zungeru Hydro Power Plant at a cost of $1.3 billion. This achievement, according to the statement issued by the group’s Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju, and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, reflects the president’s commitment to sustainable development, energy sufficiency, and improving the lives of Nigerians.
By commissioning the 40 megawatts Kashimbilla and Dadin Kowa plants in Taraba and Gombe states, the president’s administration has taken significant strides in the country’s pursuit of diversified energy sources. The plants will improve access to electricity for communities and businesses in their respective regions, stimulating economic growth, empowering local industries, and uplifting the living standards of their residents.
The 700MW Zungeru Hydro Power Plant, which is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Africa, is also a milestone achievement for the administration. It will provide clean and sustainable electricity to millions of Nigerians, facilitating industrial growth, attracting investments and generating employment opportunities. These plants align with the Buhari administration’s commitment to promoting renewable energy sources, reducing carbon footprint and mitigating the effect of climate change.
The BMO has called on Nigerians to celebrate these milestones and recognise the positive impact they will have on the nation’s development trajectory. It also urged Nigerians to support the government’s ongoing efforts to expand the country’s energy infrastructure, attract further investments, and promote sustainable development across all sectors of the economy.
In conclusion, Nigerians are optimistic that the completion of these three power plants will go a long way to improve the country’s power situation and create new opportunities for socio-economic growth.
