The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that his legal team will prove that the 2023 presidential election was fraudulent. Atiku’s statement was made in response to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling that dismissed the suit seeking the disqualification of Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for double nomination.
The apex court held that the Peoples Democratic Party lacked the locus standi to institute the suit since it is not a member of the APC. Notwithstanding the ruling, Atiku affirmed that his legal team will not rest until they prove that the election was fraudulent.
Speaking via his official Twitter account, Atiku vowed, “Our legal team is primed to robustly prove that the election of February 25 was fraudulent, did not comply with the constitutional requirements and the electoral guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, @inecnigeria, and that the announced winner was not even qualified to contest the poll.”
Atiku expressed his unwavering commitment to the cause of achieving a new order that would foster development and growth in Nigeria, adding that he would not be dismissed by any setback he may encounter in his quest for justice.
He urged his supporters to remain patient and peaceful as they trust their legal team to work diligently toward the ultimate goal. The outcome of Atiku’s quest for justice would significantly set a precedent in Nigerian politics.
