The newly appointed Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, has pledged to lead a corruption-free administration. Madein, who is the first female to hold the position, made this statement during her takeover from the outgoing substantive AGF, Sylva Okolieaboh, in Abuja on Friday.
The Office of the Accountant General has been plagued with controversy in the past year, and Madein expressed her determination to continue the good work started by her predecessor for the progress of the Treasury House. She called for the cooperation of all to return to the exemplary days of the past while emphasizing the crucial need for zero-tolerance to corruption in carrying out their statutory roles.
Prior to her appointment, Madein was the Director of Finance and Accounts at the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation. She stated her intention to fully digitize the management of the government’s funds.
In conclusion, her appointment is a sign of progress as diversity continues to increase in higher government positions. We can only hope that her leadership will bring a positive transformation, and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation will become a corruption-free entity.
