An Asiana Airlines passenger who opened an emergency exit door mid-air reportedly felt “suffocated” and wanted to leave quickly, according to South Korean police. The man, who was taken in for questioning upon the plane’s landing, stated that he had lost his employment recently and was under stress. The passenger is believed to have opened the exit door when the plane was 200 metres above the ground. He now faces up to 10 years in prison for violating aviation safety laws. The opening of the exit door caused wind to rush in, leading to a few passengers experiencing breathing difficulties. However, no one was significantly hurt nor was there any substantial damage. This is reportedly the first such incident to happen in Korea’s aviation history.
