President Muhammadu Buhari has reassured Nigerians that he is leaving Nigeria better than he met it in his 2015 inauguration address. In his farewell broadcast ahead of Monday’s inauguration, Buhari stated that under his leadership, the country was now on the path of transformation and development.
He also expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their unwavering support during his eight-year tenure as the democratically elected president of Nigeria. Buhari singled out and expressed his special appreciation to the Nigerian people for their prayers during his illness in his first term.
Buhari’s broadcast went on to stress the crucial role of democracy in ensuring that Nigeria takes its place among the leading nations of the world. He urged all Nigerians to remain united in their quest to improve the country and build a better Nigeria.
The outgoing president praised the resilience and tenacity of all the presidential candidates and political parties involved in the past elections, and encouraged them to accept the decision of the courts and work together to build a stronger Nigeria.
Buhari’s electoral process guarantees that every vote counts, results are credible, and elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. He commended the private sector for their support in the implementation of his administration’s policies, and assured Nigerians of his regime’s commitment to tackling corruption and improving service delivery across every sector.
Buhari’s promise to bring better infrastructure, increased security, and sustainable economic growth was evident in the completion of long-awaited projects, including the second Niger bridge, petroleum industry act and numerous road networks connecting various states.
While much work still needs to be done to reach Nigeria’s full potential, Buhari reaffirmed his belief that the country is better today than it was in 2015.
