Zamfara Governor Dissolves State Executive Council

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has given his nod for the dissolution of the state executive council and the sack of all political appointees. This announcement was made in a press statement by Dr Lawal Hussein, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Dr Lawal Hussein stated that the state executive council included persons such as special advisers, chairmen of boards and commissions (except the Civil Service Commission), the Independent Electoral Commission, Judicial Service Commission, and members of the House of Assembly Service Commission.

Other affected groups are non-career directors-general, executives of extra ministerial departments, agencies and politically based companies, sole administrators of the 14 local government councils, secretaries of the 14 local government councils, councillors of the 14 local government councils and area development councils.

The statement added that the Governor has ordered the affected public officers to hand over the affairs of their organisations to the officers next in command, while chairmen of the affected boards and commissions are to hand over to secretaries of their respective organisations, and sole administrators of the 14 local government councils are to hand over to their respective directors of administration.

The statement noted that Governor Matawalle expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all public officers affected for their individual and collective contributions to the growth and development of the state during his term in office. He also thanked the people of Zamfara State for their cooperation and support during his tenure as the executive governor of the state. The dissolution takes immediate effect.
